Catriona Cairns

 

Catriona is a trained counsellor and psychotherapist who has been in fulltime private practice since 2011 and joined CPA in 2012.  She trained first as a counsellor, and worked in the grief and loss area. She was employed for nine years as a hospice counsellor, providing counselling for patients, and their families during the time of illness and in bereavement.

 Catriona then trained in Gestalt therapy and became a registered psychotherapist. She worked in an eating disorders service for five years providing psychotherapy for clients of the service and at times family members. 

Catriona has furthered her training in psychodynamic psychotherapy with her completion of the Advanced Certificate of Practice through NZAP.

 Since moving into private practice she offers therapy for a wide range of people, initially wanting help with:

  • depression or anxiety or loss
  • family conflict
  • eating difficulties
  • relationship struggles
  • trauma
  • other issues.

Catriona offers supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists as well as community and health workers.

Qualifications:  BA, BD, PgDip Counselling, Dip Psychotherapy (GANZ), ACP.
